Find out about our Head of Design, how he fell into the design industry and what he likes to do in his spare time.
How did you get into design?
By accident, or fate, which ever way you want to look at it. I had a life-threatening accident as a child and fractured my skull at the crazy age of 9 whilst climbing trees! I was hospitalised for months and to stop myself from going insane, I armed myself with pencil and paper and started drawing. From there I went on to do Art & Design through high school and college – winning a national design award during my time at college and landing a job in a local design studio.
What do you like most about working in design?
It might sound cheesy but I enjoy the whole process. From our first formal meeting where we get to know the client and their requirements, through to presenting our creative concepts and seeing the clients get excited again about how their business and brand will look. Finally, seeing and delivering the outcomes and goals that meet the client’s brief and more!
What colour would your team best describe you as?
Blue?! Alas, according to Google – feeling blue means I’m ‘imaginative, helpful, detail-oriented and a team builder’. I feel a team day out is in order soon.
Which 5 celebrities would you invite to a formal dinner – alive or dead?
Freddie Mercury, David Bowie, Leonardo Da Vinci, Stephen Fry and Tom Hardy. Now that would be a party!
What are your interests other than design?
I like romantic walks and poetry… nah! I prefer to spend time in the gym, socialising and watching films! From gruesome horrors to beautiful Japanese Anime like Studio Ghibli. I enjoy the classics just as much as new movies – being open to many styles and experiences helps broaden the mind, both inside and outside of work.
