From Football and Polar Bears to the Wolf of Wall Street. Find out more about Account Manager, Tom Sharp in our latest spotlight.
After spending a year living and working in Spain, the next 10 years of my career were spent at a 4 star hotel in the Lake District. As a Marketing Manager, I was in charge of the digital channels and started to learn how to use them to drive sales. This led me to do a CIM Digital Marketing Diploma to put me in a position where I could change industry and move to work for my first digital agency. Having always been client facing, the natural position for me seemed to be in account management and so I spent a couple of years at the first agency before looking to move somewhere bigger to broaden my experience.
It sounds a bit cheesy but I enjoy the fact there’s an entertaining atmosphere in the office. Sure, there’s bickering but that’s healthy and it generally comes about because people here care about what they’re doing. It leads to us producing a quality solution that both we and the client are proud of…Oh – and I like playing 5 a side football after work on a Tuesday night and going for team drinks from time to time.
An Account Manager needs patience and empathy. You need to be able to communicate at all levels as if information is not correctly collated and distributed, everything falls apart!
Playing and watching football. I play for my village team despite calls from my wife to retire. I’m surrounded by Manchester United and Liverpool fans but for some reason I chose Everton when I was 5 and opened myself up to a lifetime of disappointment.
