It was discovered recently by code sleuth Jane Manchun Wong that Facebook are trialling split testing organic posts. If you’re like us and spend most days with your head buried in Facebook’s Ads Manager, you’ll know that you’ve been able to split test your paid ads for some time now. Well, it looks like that feature might soon bleed over into your organic posting. This new feature would enable posters to show variations of their posts to different audiences. Posters can then analyse the performance of each in order to optimise their content for maximum engagement.
This may be a response to the decline of the reach of organic posts in recent months. Facebook has been criticised for not treating their organic posting with the same due care and attention that they treat their ad service with.
We assume the feature won’t be hitting the masses for a while yet. It will most likely be slowly rolled out to larger companies and then to everyone else.
